Pacific Crest Trail - Sources for information on fires that may affect the PCT.

Susan is compiling a list of agencies and phone numbers for hikers within the following areas (below). (If you have computer access, you can find information on-line, but if you don't, you might be happy to have these phone numbers with you.

While Susan is compiling a list of agencies and contact phone numbers, please go to backpack45.blogspot.com and read her posts about wildfire safety and how to obtain current information on existing fires.  Thank you.

8/29/2007. I am listing the phone numbers within each district or agency in the order that seems most logical to me. For example, the Cleveland Descanso District's phone number is answered by people who are in the area and who are familiar with the PCT. On the other hand, the Forest Supervisor is in an office in San Diego. Determine the area you are in and seek the appropriate listing. Susan

PCT SECTION A

Cleveland National Forest:

  1. Descanso Ranger District: 619-445-6235. 3348 Alpine Blvd. Alpine, CA 91901. (hrs. Mon. -Sat. 8 AM - 4:30 PM)
  2. Palomar Ranger District: Indian Flats, near Warner Springs: 760-788-0250. (hrs. Mon -Sat. 8 AM - 4:30 PM)
  3. Mt. Laguna Visitor Center: Open limited and changeable hours. Currently: Fri. 1 - 4 PM., Sat. 9 AM - 5 PM, Sun 9 AM - 3 PM. 619- 473-7547.

San Bernardino National Forest:
